Meet Simon Lever

Simon brings over 30 years’ experience across the human resources, workplace health and safety (WHS), and recruitment sectors, supporting organisations of all sizes across a wide range of industries. His background spans strategic and operational roles, enabling him to provide practical, end-to-end support that connects recruitment, safety, compliance and workplace culture in meaningful ways.

Known for his practical, big-picture thinking, Simon has a strong ability to see how systems, processes and policies interact with people, behaviours and real-world workplaces. He identifies where workplace systems support performance and compliance, and where they may unintentionally create barriers. His approach recognises that effective recruitment, HR and safety systems only succeed when they align with how people actually work on the ground.

As a neurodiverse professional, Simon brings a unique perspective to inclusive recruitment and workplace design. He describes his neurodivergence as an ability to view challenges from multiple angles and to recognise when flexibility, clarity or additional support can improve outcomes. This insight strongly informs his work in inclusive hiring practices, psychosocial risk management and sustainable workforce solutions. Simon’s extensive experience, combined with his people-focused and practical approach, allows him to support businesses to build compliant, capable and psychologically safe workplaces that are genuinely human-centred.

Our Commitment to Inclusion & Respect

We are committed to respect, inclusion and meaningful participation, and recognise the importance of reconciliation in creating fair, safe and inclusive workplaces. Through our work, we strive to support employment practices that value diversity, remove barriers and create opportunities for all people.

Neurodiversity & Inclusive Recruitment Statement

Neurodiversity & Inclusive Recruitment Statement

At CROSS Recruit, we recognise and value neurodiversity as a natural and important part of human difference. We believe that diverse ways of thinking, learning, communicating and problem-solving strengthen workplaces, drive innovation, and support better outcomes for individuals and organisations alike.

Our recruitment approach is intentionally inclusive and strength-based. We are committed to removing unnecessary barriers within recruitment and selection processes, and to ensuring candidates are assessed on their skills, experience, capabilities and potential rather than on how well they fit a traditional recruitment model.

We strive to create a safe, respectful and supportive recruitment environment where candidates feel comfortable to share what they need to perform at their best. Candidates are welcome to request reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, including alternative communication methods, flexible interview formats, additional time, or other supports that enable equitable participation.

CROSS Recruit works closely with clients to promote inclusive hiring practices and to support workplaces that value difference, respect individual needs, and foster psychological safety. We advocate for recruitment processes that are fair, transparent and accessible, and for workplaces that enable people to thrive in ways that suit their strengths.

Our commitment is to inclusive recruitment that is practical, respectful and human-centred, supporting candidates to present their best selves and helping organisations build capable, diverse and resilient teams.

Need an Adjustment?

Need an Adjustment?

At CROSS Recruit, we want everyone to feel comfortable and supported throughout the recruitment process. If there is anything we can reasonably do to help you take part at any stage, please let us know. Our aim is to remove barriers so you can show your skills and strengths in a way that works best for you.

Examples of reasonable adjustments may include (these are examples only and not a complete list):

  • Choosing how you would like to communicate, such as phone, email or video

  • Flexible interview times or formats

  • Extra time to answer questions or complete tasks

  • Receiving questions or instructions in writing

  • Having a support person with you during conversations or interviews

Requests for adjustments are considered on a case-by-case basis and in line with role requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, and applicable legislation.

All requests are handled with care and kept confidential. If you would prefer, you are very welcome to call and have a chat with our friendly team about any questions or concerns. Support people are more than welcome to join these conversations too.
